Item History
In the early days of Elder Earth, our bold party was limited to the lands of Luire, simply because that was the only region we had created. Rest assured that there was adventure to be found in every corner of this empire.
On one particular adventure involving a long-abandoned manor house we decided to be sneaky, and too much so as it turned out. We entered the building through the back door (no one ever guards this entrance....) and proceeded to quietly make our way through the building. All went well until we came to the doors to the main foyer.
We discovered much to our annoyance that when walking through a doorway, anything hiding above that portal is not visible to the casual observer. Good old intrepid Delvin Hammersong was in the lead at the time, and as soon as he walked through the door, our DM instructed him to make a save versus spell to avoid a stream of acid spit by a gargoyle hiding above the door. He failed his save, and so did most of his items; the only survivors were his backpack (plus contents) and his underwear.
In all of my adventuring career I had never seen one character blow that many saving throws in a row and live to tell about it, but Delvin survived along with...well...the bare essentials. It is unfortunate that he later met an untimely end...he would be useful as a shield when fighting Black Dragons.
